Our 5 Development Pillars
The 5 Pillars
What makes FIMA the world's most complete minifootball organization — sport, education, social impact, employment and culture working together for 265 million players
BEYOND COMPETITION
Every minifootball organization in the world organizes tournaments. FIMA does as well, but our mission goes far beyond competition. Through our five pillars of institutional development, we transform minifootball from a simple game into a comprehensive platform for human development, social transformation and community empowerment.
This is what makes FIMA unique. It is why more than 265 million minifootball players around the world can finally identify with a federation that truly represents the values, aspirations and future of their sport.
PILLAR 1 — SPORTS ⚽
Sports Excellence
FIMA organizes and governs competitive minifootball in all its formats — 5v5, 6v6, 7v7, 8v8 and 9v9 — making it the only international organization that covers the complete spectrum of associated minifootball worldwide. Through our Liga de las Comunidades program, FIMA creates 100 community leagues in vulnerable neighborhoods across 10 countries — with five simultaneous categories: men's, women's, mixed, masters (+40 years) and inclusive for people with disabilities. Every community deserves organized sport.

PILLAR 2 — EDUCATION
Education Through Sport
FIMA Schools is our flagship educational program — operating in high school dropout zones and documenting the proven correlation between minifootball participation and improvement in academic indicators including attendance, performance and retention. Each school operates in alliance with a local university that scientifically validates the results. Our annual FIMA 265 Impact Report, published with academic partners in 10 countries, makes FIMA the first minifootball organization in the world to produce peer-reviewed evidence of its social impact."

PILLAR 3 — SOCIAL
Social Transformation
FIMA's Minifootball for Peace program brings together communities divided by conflict, violence or social tension — placing players from historically opposed neighborhoods on the same team and documenting the measurable impact on social cohesion indicators. Colombia is our pilot case — a country whose peace process makes it the ideal laboratory for demonstrating that a 40-square-meter minifootball court can do what years of conflict could not: bring people together. Our methodology is validated by social psychologists and community workers, and our results are presented at international sport-for-development conferences.

PILLAR 4 — EMPLOYMENT

The FIMA Certification Program trains and certifies coaches, referees and sports administrators with internationally recognized credentials — validated by national Ministries of Sport in FIMA member countries. Our target is clear: 70% of certified individuals in formal employment within 6 months of completing the program. Minifootball is not just a sport — it is a career pathway for thousands of young people in communities where formal employment opportunities are scarce.
